You'd have better luck finding out if you fall under the recall if you use the contact information that is listed in the PDF (there's a link in post #1). In the PDF, you'll see the recall campaign number as well as contact info (email & toll free nbr).

Also, BMW USA (formally North America) and BMW Canada are 2 different BMW Groups...sometimes they don't follow the same recalls. I'd contact one of the Headquarter contacts versus a local dealership...sometimes the locals aren't really up to snuff on things of this nature until someone comes in with official documentation...or a specific campaign number.
Thanks Quick, yes i brought the PDF to them and say no recall. i will escalate
To head office as suggested bcause we are talking of something that will make the difference between stay alive or die !! And it is my wife sitting there...that is what i have told them..

Transport Canada is entirely different than the US safety regulators, it being a different country and all.

In 2006 and 2007, the model years the Transport Canada recall apparently applies to, BMW Canada sold approximately 50,000 vehicles. So if 15 thousand vehicles are potentially involved, you have a one in three chance of yours being in the affected serial number range or impacted population. If the 15 thousand vehicles were sold into both US and Canada, you have a much smaller chance of being impacted.

Also, the TC document suggests to me that it is an after-failure campaign, not a replacement of all of the sensors. They state that due to the risk of failure, the warranty has been extended to 10 years, and any failed sensors (resulting in an air bag warning light) will be replaced. If the failure mode resulted in no warning light, then that would be a reason to replace the sensors. If the light indicates a failure, then they wouldn't need to replace them all.

Let us know what BMW says.

BMW Canada contact info: Contact Us | BMW Canada

Looks like you found some info about the issue outside the knowledge of your local BMW dealership...

It is still BMW North America, and it is still just for the US.

You're correct...I should NOT have said "formally"...sorry for any confusion this may have caused. They indeed are still BMW of North America, LLC...but they use BMW USA in many of their ads & social media (website etc.) contacts, now.

I've never understood why the USA group took the name "North America" when there's 3 countries on the continent. And since BMW Canada & BMW Mexico are both BMW groups within the company's structure and are both in North America...why co-opt the whole continents name, when you could have used the name of the country (USA in this case) from the start...like most other BMW Groups.

Well, I will refrain from any cheap shots at American-centric organizations, although perhaps the theme song of such organizations should be "We Are the World".

Oh what the heck. How about the World Series of baseball? Or the NHL? The N refers to another nation than the US where it is now based.

Anyway, all that matters is that there are still some specific differences north and south of the 49th parallel, including BMW distribution, and federal transport legislation. People buying vehicles on one side of the border and exporting them should make sure nothing gets missed like safety recalls.
