A regular OBD II scanner should be able to tell you what the DTC is that is setting off the SES. The EML is the drive by wire throttle that is probaly bad or out of synch.
The DSC, ABS, Brake is probably a wheel sensor, if your cruise and speedometer work then it's probably one of the front sensors, worst case scenario is a bad ABS module. Cheapest BMW specific software is BMW Scanner 1.4. It's fairly easy to install compare with INPA, DIS or Carsoft 6.5. You will still need to buy a cable, and if your car has the pacman connector in the engine compartment you will need to get a 20pins to 16pins OBD II adapter. Hope you didn't pay a lot for that X because it looks like you are going to be spending some BIG Bucks to get it running right. $25.00 bucks is not a whole lot of dough for a scan.

I did not pay a lot. dude was asking 6800, bought for 5700. Its not my first BMW rodeo. I'm putting together my standard maintenance restart kit (fluids, filters, belts) as we speak.

BMW Scanner 1 4 0 Programmer V1 4 Never Locking | eBay
Cable & software best bargain in BMW computer tools there is. I have INPA GT1/SSS/DIS etc and use this unless I have no choice.

How to use PA Soft / BMW Scanner 1.4 at a glance - YouTube
I watched that video. It did not appear to be able to look at live data for the ABS module. Can anyone give further input if you have used this? |

I will look in the morning and see if it can see ABS live data.

Morning Update! Truck didn't start. Probably not going to mess with it much over the next few days. We are -20* this morning. Should be registered by the end of the week. Then I will need to have the battery tested. I'm discovering this winter I could really use a few new tools, like a battery tester and a good jump box.

Here is what the ABS pane shows.
![]() Each module gives a similar pane & you can reset, program and in many cases code them. It is less comprehensive for more detailed things but much easier than any of teh real BMW tools.

So with that, you could see errors but not necessarily see live data, correct? For example, with the SnapOn tool I could see the actual signal the wheel speed sensors were sending to be able to see that the unit I put in was sending about a signal about 10% the strength of the others. But in testing, the car didn't usually see this as a fault and would just "misuse" the information (turning on my ABS when I didn't need it). It looks like a powerful tool, but appears to be missing this feature, correct?

For that you need a 5k snapon scanner with the BMW add on that is like 2k more.
Or INPA DIS/GT1/SSS which is also available but IMHO very cumbersome (I have it and only use it if this does not do what I need which thankfully has not happened yet) You can get the Romanian package for about 40 bucks and have the above and get this for under 30 for convenience.
