The electrics will connect up and function fine, it's the physical fitment of the screen that may be an issue. As said, mounting will be different but if you are prepared to cut and modify you may get it to fit. It won't just slide in and screw in so if that's what you're looking for then you have your answer Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

Even if the audio system on the X5 has DSP? I would expect no sound on X5 if I install a bordmonitor from e46. Did you swap between X5 and e46 or between e46s? The difference between the DSP and non-DSP amps is that the volume is controlled through the iBus on the DSP amp while on the non-DSP the headunit has to control the radio output volume. I assume if the e46 bordmonitor is installed on a DSP X5 then iBus message sent for audio is not the right one. I don't have experience with the bordmonitors but I have been through some challenges with the DSP amp iBus in the past. I know the amp will turn off if the iBus handshake is not completed properly. The first time you start the audio system it might work but in a few minutes the amp will stop.

The e53 could be had with the C53 (in-dash cassette) or the CD53 (in-dash single CD player) or the business radio w/MD player which would be paired with a MID...but I've never seen an e53 X5 with an in-dash CD player w/Nav screen....and the part database doesn't support it either...not that I can find. The e53 X5 with Nav monitor...only came with a housing that contained a cassette player behind the screen (see item #2 in the diagram & part nbr index): ![]() Whereas...the set-up with the MID...the e53 X5 could have either the in-dash cassette or in-dash CD player: (Business Radio w/Cassette player)

Well my bmw has a in dash nav with a cd behind the screen, I am not talking about interchanging the on board monitors I'm asking if the e46 nav system box in the trunk will work on the e53 because my nav system box in the trunk no longer works

Qsilver answered your question with the diagrams but now I am totally confused about your last statement. I am pretty sure BMW never made a NAV with CD behind the screen for X5...
