sunny5280 is an unknown quantity at this point
The E53 X5 is a great vehicle to travel in. I took mine from Colorado to Arizona a few years ago and I was very pleased. It hauled four adults without problem.

How many miles do you have on your 4.8?

Be sure to apply for Texas citizenship.

Say goodbye to rust, sell the snowblower and hello to Texas edition pickup trucks.

Welcome! Austin is a great place to live. Quirky in a positive way, some great restaurants and lots to do.

That's quite an accomplishment for the X - not sure I'd feel totally comfortable doing that in mine. It's nearly sorted for the near-term though - so soon!

When I saw the mileage - this is the first thing I thought of.....

Yup,, but im not new to german cars and its my hobby too. So im always checking stuff for the hell of it and do proactive maintaince. I was pretty confident in having no issues.

But with the nature of the beast id still be more comfortable taking my 2002 Nissan pathfinder with 144k miles across the US then this. Just because of stuff that can go bad you cant really predict. Like when i started my car in the garage and the plastic pulley disintegrated.

I didn't take any pics, but in 2011 in a 4 month timeframe we went from Vegas to DC and back again with a Thule Terrapin (hitch mounted carrier) on the back, 2 dogs in the back seat, and every square inch filled with clothes, etc.

On the trip home, we did the last stretch from Dallas to Vegas in one shot. That was a long day...

X5 performed nearly flawlessly. Thermostat failed open on the way back. It was December...

Lol not to brag but ive driven cross country this past summer from east PA to seattle, drove it back all in one shot...

Had to stop and take 30 min power naps at points. That was really something... And as a personal challenge for myself. (Not in the x)
