help with new clocks

Hi guys,
new member here.
I had to replace my instrument cluster because of a fault,
anyway im getting the mileage changed to my original cluster but there are a few lights on
( abs, brakes ),
Ive heard that thats what the original donar car had problem wise but stayed on when put in mine.
apart from that everything works ok.
any ideas how to get this off.
martin.

Have you tried turning the steering wheel lock to lock to reset the steering angle sensor?

Usually those are the lights that come on, abs brakes and i think DSC.

Try it.

It usually happends when you disconnect cluster or do other random things on the car.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
Is the tamper dot illuminated? If not it sounds like the cluster wasn't coded correctly, thats assuming you have no DSC/ABS issues

Chances are that the IKE has stored the old faults and when re-installed in a new location, the old faults are still there... once the mileage is programmed into the cluster (and the tamper dot is erased), make sure that the person doing the programming clears the faults inside the IKE module. If your car does not have the same/similar problems of its own, the clearing of the old faults should remove the lights...

Was the "new" IKE compatible with your car? I.e, is the new IKE same level cluster that you had before? there are HIGH and LOW clusters, there are M clusters (the "is" ones), some programmed in miles, some in kms, some programmed for whatever language... some items can be remedied by the programming, like the language, land, even the VIN, some can not be changed, like the oil temp reader on "is" vs. MPG reader on regular cluster...

many variables involved...

Well you seem to be the closest mate,
the instrument cluster was a direct same model replacement ( 4.6is),
Everything works spot on just as you say those problems which the lights are on were from the old vehicle.
What is IKE ??
+tamper dot ?

Thanks.

IKE is the formal abbreviation for the cluster... I don't remember the actual name, folks here can chime in.

Tamper dot is a fat dot, located next to words "miles" and "km", and it happens when the VIN number of cluster doesn't match the VIN inside the LCM, the Light Control Module, and/or the mileage in IKE and LCM differ by more than 200 miles (or, is it 200 kms?). The replacement cluster needs to be programmed with correct VIN, and correct mileage - there is limited number of times that IKE and LCM can be programmed, and they usually are programmed to the highest mileage between the two. So, if your current car has 50,000 miles, and donor cluster has 35,000 miles, the donor cluster can be programmed for 50,000. If your car has 35,000 miles and donor cluster has 50,000 miles, you can't just change the mileage to the lowest of the two. I am not saying that it is not possible, I am saying that the process in this case becomes much more involved, and borderline legality...
