DSC/4x4 ding and yellow light

I need help identifying the reason of why my DSC/4X4 ding and yellow warning light come on. This happened four times on my trip to NY last week. The ding sound and the message " DSC/4X4 inactive" and the 4X4 warning yellow light will come on, but the message will disappear after 5 seconds and only the yellow warning light will stays on. After stopping and starting the car a couple of times, the 4x4 yellow warning light will clear. I tried to get a code, but no code is stored in memory. Has anyone had this issue before? I am thinking one of the module is going bad.
