Bluetooth pairing 2005 x5

Hi All new to the forum having purchased a E53 2005 X5.

I was reading through the above and have a similar issue where I cannot pair the phone to the car (iPhone 4s). I have read you hold down the button under the arm rest and turn the ignition to 1/2 and the display should read pairing. However mine does not just says activate phone. I have used PA Soft and deleted the existing paired phones which was 4 since this is the limit and also via the software tried to pair but nothing happens and the phone detects no Bluetooth visible devices.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of issue.

Many thanks in advance

When you see "activate phone"...do you activate your iPhone and open its Bluetooth setting to see if your BMW is listed? If it is, this is when you select it on your phone, then enter the 4 digit pass key code which is specific to your module...the code should be on the paperwork or taken from the module.

Hi Yes I have the phone ready in discovery mode but nothing is picked up. I paired the same phone with my other car (saab) and it picked up straight away. Also deleted all Bluetooth paired devices on the phone just in case. I have tried a samsung phone as well this also does not pick up the car.

HI just to add a little more to this I used the bmw scanner and noticed to errors appeared on the telephone area

Prefit SIM denied in the network and also I-Bus access error

would any of these cause the pairing issue.

thanks

Some have disconnected the BT module or perhaps pulled the fuse (is there a fuse)...to get it to work.

Just to add its a 2005 E53 x5 under the arm rest i have the button (man wave). Also upon ejecting the tray I can see connectors facing upwards on back park for a phone connection. And there is a tray which pivots up and down with TCU written in white.

I have pressed the button for 3 secs and longer switched to both 1 and 2 ignition.
I have also pressed the (Man Wave) button on the steering wheel and done the same again ignition 1 and 2.

Also used BMW scanner cleared the paired devices and tried using the software to start the pairing again nothing happens on the screen just keeps saying Activate Phone.

I have reset the unit via the BMW scanner software and tried all the above again and nothing.

Also tried changed the PK code and done the above again.

Only errors appearing are those listed in this post.

Also tried different phones and a laptop to see if BT can be discovered.

When driving/engine on if I press the R/T button on the steering wheel dash displays Activate Phone.

I have looked in the boot and all looks connected silver box at and angel but then if something was wrong I would expect the bmw software to pick this up.

other than the above cant see what else I can do without taking it to BMW.
