For that reason and because it is easy to do and should be free, I would take both batteries back to the store you bought the new one and have them load tested. Even if the battery takes a charge that does not mean it is good.

If the charged battery will start your X then I would read the alternator voltage output from the OBC by unlocking the cluster. Regardless of the result I would still have the battery(s) load tested.
I charged up the new (Duralast) battery all night and it didnt do anything. Only thing you hear is the relays in the truck clicking.

I am charging the BMW battery that was in the truck and see what happens. After that I will proceed to other test.

But I wanted to point out that I AM NOT hearing any noise from the fuel pump. It does not make any noise.

The engine will turn over even if the fuel pump is not working, it just wouldn't start. If the battery you tried to charge is bad there would be no current to run the fuel pump.

The clicking sound--is it a single click when your try to start it or is it a constant clicking?

I would take the new battery back and have them test it. I would eliminate the battery from possible causes of the no start. As it is you don't know if either battery is any good and trying to charge them will not be conclusive.

The X won't start. What could it be

The next thing i would do is take it to the dealer let them diagnose the X as you should know you will receive a print out of the issues and what needed to be fix to correct the problem them take it back and get it fix or you do the repairs yourself if possible.

The relay(s) in the back clicks whenever you try to start it. Its not a constant click, although I would have to check that specifically.

I want to try myself first as its not starting and I would have to tow it there and back.

If I cant figure it out, I am going to take it to a INDY mechanic.

The reason why I suggested the dealer because electrical issues is very hard to diagnose without the proper tools unless you've been through this before.Anyway i hope you correct this issue soon

That's a lot of towing.

I have read the posts. I am aware what has been suggested.

It is impossible to know how mechanically inclined or what tools are available to an OP. That is the reason I suggested a simple test that anyone can do.

If it is not the battery (or the OP has certified the battery is ok), then its time to move on with other components.

OP, pls ask QSilver7 for a schematic diagram (battery, starter, starter relay, fuel relay, involved Fuses, DME) make sure to tell him your complete vehicle information.

EDIT: Something like this
WDS BMW Wiring Diagram System - X5 E53

Good luck!
