Cheers "bcredliner" I'm gonna have a look at getting that and giving it a go. Even if I can't figure it out and end up having to go to the shop I'm sure it'll come in handy along the line.

Thrillcat - I feel for ya mate, I'm still on the mend after a tib and fib break..

It sucks, but I'm glad it was my arm and not a leg or my back or my head or something else. My head rattles enough the way it is.

New axles going in this morning, hopefully this is going to do the trick. Really can't wait to drive it without worrying so much. I'm getting to the point that I'm starting to think I was taken a bit on the purchase, but I'm sure once it's driving right I'll get over that feeling.

And, hey, pretty much a new drive train at this point, among other things.

Also ordered some more new pieces that I can put in myself once the arm is healed up...ordered the Mercedes tail light wiring to fix that problem and a pair of smoke side indicators to clean up that look, plus I've got an iPod adapter and window clips ready to go, and I need to order a new Nav screen to put in.

UPDATE...

Just heard from the shop. It appears to be F.I.X.E.D.

He said the transfer case took care of about 90% of the shake, and the remaining 10% was remedied by the left front CV axle.

Quick breakdown for those who requested...
Reman Rear Drive shaft: $425
Install Rear Drive shaft & new guibo: $350
Transfer Case Fluid Drain & Refill: $160
Reman Transfer case: $1425
Left Front CV Axle: $95
Remove & Replace Transfer Case & Axle + fluids, test driving, etc.: $850

So that right there is right about what I expected to spend over the first two years of ownership getting it caught up on everything. Of course, that's over 4 months, not 2 years. And I've also spent about $600 on random services and parts, and I'll drop another few hundred servicing the transmission.

But at least now I can leave town.

Cheers for the update.. I'm stoked for you that you've finally got it sorted. I think I'm gonna start small (maybe replace brake lines and maybe calipers, and do a transfer case flush) before I go replacing the transfer case, especially as my shake is intermittent and no way near as bad as what yours was.
Congrats again on getting it sorted and happy driving
Matt
