Since you apparently haven't made any changes to the HL washer nozzles or hoses, i would suspect the one thing you did change -the pump.

I'm thinking that pump is leaking. As in, it doesn't seal tight enough around the impeller. So the washer fluid can seep through the pump when it's not running.
Just an idea..

Since the headlights are lower than the tank there is a check valve in the line to prevent the siphoning you are experiencing.

Interesting on the distribution. That does sound like a check valve. It would have to be some sort of reversed check valve though. The pump would need to push through the valve some how but not a lot of gravity to drain through the valve, not really sure how that would work?

Lvp how did you access the valve? Have to remove bumper? Thanks

RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.6is SINGLE PARTS FOR HEAD LAMP CLEANING I don't know what year or model you have, suggest you add to your signature, but number 4 is the check valve/distribution valve that is likely the problem. I'm almost sure to get access the bumper does need to be removed.

Sounds good anyway to troubleshoot the check valve?

There is nothing between the tank and the nozzles to prevent siphoning except the distribution/check valve. If the fluid is only draining from the nozzles the valve is the problem.

I wonder if that distribution part has any sort of check valve.

Yes on the other models i have heard replacing the washers themselves solved the problem. I find it hard to believe they would all fail.

Freestyle-Before I replaced the pump this wasn't happening you are correct but you can blow through both pumps so it doesn't appear there is a check valve/seal in the pump. I have an e46 and just disconnected the hose at the pump. Fluid flows right through. Maybe where the old pump was broken it wasn't allowing fluid to pass?

Vein-Have you replaced any of the washers yet?

I think the distribution piece is the check valve. Mine was cracked, but when I opened it, it had a spring and rubber diaphragm. Very check-valvey if you ask me

Post 8 has the link to the pictures I took. You have to pull the bumper. I believe it pushes fluid through then when pump pressure stops the springs seats the diaphragm and closes off the channels.

Thanks very much I'll start there a lot cheaper than replacing the nozzles. The picture was helpful nice looking truck. Now I also know I can replace my peeling steering wheel.
