Ok, so the saga continues. The buckle up for safety feature got rid of the "activate phone" message on the E46M3, so that seems to work. Both phones (separately) loaded phone books, etc. right away, no issues now.

X5 was dead. Pressing R/T or the "face" button did nothing. No beep, no connection, no pairing, no nothing.

Oh well, if I can get my wife's E46M3 to reliably hook up to her phone, 99% of my problems are taken care of.

Hi guys'
I have an 06/2004 E53 that did not come with a BT Module.

Can I plug and play a replacement module straight onto my car?

If you have the assist then it should be. Mine was. I just replaced the assist module with one that had Bluetooth. Worked like a champ.

I have a similar issue, mine is 05/2004 and have the 639 package, it says as a preparation for BT phone I have BT passskey etc.

Funny pert is I never saw the activate phone message, if I touch R/T button it just says Phone book empty..

My question is, where is that module exactly attached. I see the CD changer and it covers two modules down. Are they easy to get out? Please someone tell me which one it is because the car previously had an accident on that corner before I buy it. It make me wonder if I still have a BT module)

Regards

Sorry after some search

It's just below the CD player. You have to take one piece out to get to it. Pretty easy deal. You have to get the key off of the unit you're putting in. It has to be one built in the '05 model year or later. The '04s even though it shows a Bluetooth logo, they didn't work.

It's the silver rectangle piece you see in the pic.

I just took it out and I am amazed. The body repair shop filled the compartment with 3 inches of sanding water white! Brilliantly they made a hole to vent it later and weld the hole (Did not bother to put some paint on it either) The water did it's job on the socket and entered inside, the card attached to Socket is all messed up, no cleaning may bring it back,RIP.

So my unit with a working BT got burned I will try to find a cheap one over e-bay

OMG

Regards

I have the R/T and Assist buttons on my steering wheel. I also want to know if the microphone is already in the overheard console or if I need to install one and were is it connected.

I have attached a PDF with images

If you have all of that, then you should have the mic.
