Misfiring while accelerating.... still

Hello guys just picked up my X5 E70 gas 3.5 xdrive from dealership for repair of misfiring while accelerating . Dealership stated my vehicle was repaired and the cause was from a bad turbo boost sensor. The plugs have less than 300 miles on them. Engine malfunction light has been fixed. I was thinking a bad coil pack?
Now 4 days later, same misfire under acceleration. I was just notified now that the issue is a transfer box issue.
Last fall my X5 was in the shop for 3 weeks for the mechatronic box bmw zf transmission malfunction. Anyone else have this issue regarding transfer box case needing repair??

Thank God for my extended warranty! I had asked earlier about extended warranty policy recommendations??

Well, as long as that south florida dealer can keep coming up with $$$$ guesses and your insurnace keeps paying, what incentive do they have to get it right?

zero

As I recall you want a bumper to bumper warranty to pick up after your 6 year/100k warranty expires? Good luck

My vehicle is a CPO vehicle, still under BMW warranty. My CPO warranty expires in July 2016. I just wanted to clear that up. Had I not had my CPO warranty, my repairs costs out of pocket would have exceeded over $15k, in the last 8 months. BMW dealerships aren't known to pad the repairs or costs. Customer's have to fight to have things covered. My last CPO BMW warranty covered almost everything, much more than my present vehicle.
It's my wife's vehicle and she loves it. It only makes sense to purchase another extended service plan if we plan to keep it.

Your BMW dealer is fine with grabbing money from BMWNA via the CPO.

As long as they can document 'fault says X; BMW computer says replace Y; BMWNA will pay us $z" they are happy to keep squeezing.

While some people have trouble with dealers cover stuff, some dealers have well oiled warranty coordinators who just pound claims through BMW. Its odd, but you can see a wide variability in how different dealers (and even different SAs) operate

I too would be concerned with what happens after the CPO is done, given your lack of car skills and reliance on the BMW dealer. As I wrote elsewhere, there are few options for good 'warranty' coverage for extended- extended warranties (ie the warranty after the first extended 6/100 expires.)

I apprecite your opinion, but you know nothing of my "lack of car skills". I have a vehicle that has spent much of it's life in the shop and it hasn't been the "Ultimate driving machine", as my M5 was, or several other BMW 's.

Let us know if the new transfer case fixes the "misfire" My dealer told me the same thing last week but I am not 100% confident that they are correct. I am on my 2nd boost sensor in 3 months. The first replacement went bad within a few days of replacement. The new boost sensor fixed 90% of the misfire however it is still not perfect.

Hello, yes it fixed what appeared to be a misfire. If they unplug the transfer case box modular and the problem with appears as a misfires goes away, it's the transfer case box. Quite an expense, but a known problem.

Thanks for the reply. The known problem seems to be with the 2011 and 2012s. I have a 2009 which has a slightly different TC. I will pull the fuse and see what happens.

I know the transmission on my X5 is also the newer 8 speed ZF as well. I read several postings on this forum regarding resetting the unit, but also there posts saying not too. If you unplug the module and the problem stops, then the gear box is bad. I was told this by several BMW certified mechanics. Today I went out for my first good test drive and it is performing great with no issues. I'm hoping this is my last visit to the dealership for a while. Been there way too often.

At this point I hope it is the transfer case. I have been searching for this for months. The shop foreman at the dealer said it was the clutch in the transfer case. It looks like I can rebuild the older one in my 09. I have rebuild many TCs in Jeeps. ATC500 700 Transfer Case Friction Clutch Repair Kit BMW x5 E53 E70 2003 2009 | eBay
