Didn't get a chance to replace this yet, but will get to it this weekend.

Ok, yep, that is the same part I referenced. Those illustrations are ok unless you don't know what part of the vehicle they represent.
Do let us know how it goes.

Not yet, was so busy looking for the sensor, I forgot to look for the cable you mentioned. You happen to have a part number and/or pic?

2007 e70 rdc location?!?!

I give up. I have searched all over under my 2007 e70 4.8i CCC. I cannot find the rdc module anywhere near the rear axle or muffler. Can someone take a photo of its location?

740iS - I think it's 12427568573 interference suppression strap. Mine (2012) is blatantly obvious sticking your head under the driver side right behind the rear wheel. Runs from muffler attach point to frame 12" away.
However with all the confusion above I am wondering if there might be more differences between the original and LCI iterations than we assume.

Same answer to BigBilly - on my 2012, if you slide under too near the rear diff and have a good look, there is a frame rail running L-R between muffler and diff. On the front side of this rail just driver side of center, this little unit is clipped. The wiring enters it from the end towards the rear wheel. Its a little bigger than a Bic lighter. It is labeled in German "REIFENDRUCK - KONTROLLE". There aren't many other electronics visible from this location and I saw it immediately. Which is why I am wondering if there are more differences between the early e70 and the LCIs.

Looked it up, yes that's the part number. Need to verify if the 08 has the strap or not. Realoem.com shows that it does exist on my '08, but I'll check for sure and see if it is rusted out or not. Since my X has always been a CA car, I'll be surprised if it is rusted out, but now out of the question.

Check this thread regarding the strap, sounds like there may be more than just the one on the exhaust :
Exhaust ground wire - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

Mine was def not rusted, it looked torn off or cut as mentioned in that link. Btw I looked and it's not a foot long, only several inches.

For you and Big Billy, I snapped a couple pics under my X5. One of the strap, one of the module bring discussed.
Well I am unable to re-size them on my phone, so will do so on my pc later and upload here.

Found the strap this morning, but not the sensor. Strap appears fine and there are mounting points on both ends of the muffler, but only one strap.

Couldn't find that darned sensor though. Even removed the heat shield above the exhaust pipes right above where they enter the muffler and still couldn't find the darned thing. Looking forward to your pics.

Ok, good on the strap. Here are pics of both, taken from laying underneath behind the driver's side rear wheel. (You don't even have to be fully under to see the strap in the second shot.)
