this might be better.

so what tune to go with stage 1 or 2 or 3

life choices?

i like getting awesome mpg but i also like to pwn others in traffic.

dont want to get stage 1 and still have the shifting lag. which appears to be the main issue right now.

Yes, and is very smooth with no jerkiness . What an improvement over stock, it does go through gears quick though! I am going to avoid stage 3 since it has 50% harder shifts but may buy it when I do JR 2.8 just to flash during spirited runs since flashing the new maps are very quick.

Just getting rid of the cold start routine was worth the price. It was embarrasing driving through downtown at 2.5k in the mornings.

The backup takes the longest >40 mins
xHP install took >15 mins
Flash install >5mins

I dont find myself constantly looking down anymore wondering when the transmission is going to shift, it acts much more natural and mountain runs are a pleasure..

Did you do stage 1 or 2? From what I hear 3 doesn't add much to performance on the diesels, we don't have the turbo lag the gassers do.

Oh yeah cold starts are annoying and never helped warmup compared to when I would manually shift lower. Heck, I sometimes kept it in m so it wouldn't do that occasional 1st lurch.

So now at warm up it shifts like regular D? Great!

Are the changed tcc lockups smooth too? Seems like they made stock sloppy there too.

I have to wait until I get it, waiting on my readiness to finish for inspection. Xhp resets codes and might reset my readiness progress which takes for ever

Went straight to the stage 2 - was a little worried the shifts might be too sharp for normal driving/cruising but was pleasently surprised that it seemed to tighten/smooth everything out so well that it makes me wonder why they came from the factory with the maps they did.

Also did it because I wanted to get the most out of my TRF stage 1 tune without adding to the harshness of the shifts which they clearly indicate is increased in the stage 3 flash.

I would shift over to manual often to avoid it as well but just overall hokie. Never made sense to run a cold engine (oil) @ higher RPM no matter what it did to the emmisions. Last 3 mornings have been awesome!

Deftronix, how are the shiftpoints in D with stg2 vs stock? Are they still low to save fuel or did xhp raise them in s2?

Stage 3 is harsh from what I hear and has some annoyances like not going into 6th (trying to be sporty). 2 is great mix of 1 and 3... and has upped torque limits.

Rob, they are completely different and hard to explain. It blows through gears but feels great, we just don't have enough gears. Such a shame the US didn't get the 8 speed e70 diesel variants that Europe got for 2 years.

Been through 2 tanks now and can say it feels even better that adaption values are set. mpg may have been negatively affected a little but I have been doing too many mountain runs lately skewing normal usage

StockX - save stage 3 for the days you want to push it, I wouldn't want to put the transmission or myself through that on the daily . They claim 50% harder shifts, that would be no good for cruising. Stage 2 is the way to go, it should have come this way from the factory and since the torque limiter is increased like Rob mentioned, it should only benefit the TRF stage 2.

I'm getting ready to do my emissions delete. This stage 2 trans sounds tempting.
