I would find out if the valve guide seals have been done. I believe that's the biggest issue with those motors.

I've got the same car, not as clean and a few less options and there's no way I would sell it for that price.

Coolant transfer pipe wasn't mentioned. It would be complete luck to get to that mileage without having it go bad. That's about an 8 hour project plus $300 parts.

Alternator bracket gasket on cars with an oil cooler is about an hour DIY.

That looks like a clean X5. If the 15-18 mpg doesn't bother you, then go for it. I love the power of my 4.8 and now that gas is hovering around $2.30 a gallon for 93, its not a big deal. On that one, lots of costly repairs look to have been taken care of. I would check and find out how old the alternator is. A weak one will leave you stranded. If you have someone knowledgeable who can do a vehicle inspection on it, that may be worth the extra cost. All in all, it looks like a good example of an X5 that seems to have been taken care of.

The coolant transfer pipe was changed as well. I'm leaning towards getting it, but going to have a PPI and then see where we are.

Does anybody know - can you program the CD buttons 1-6 and assign them radio stations? I thought I read in the owner's manual that this could be done.

On my CIC, the buttons 1-6 can be programmed to any of various functions. But if you have an FM station tuned, pressing and holding should store it to a button.

I can do it in my 2005 so I know that must be an option.
