Upgrading soundsystem, could need som tips
Hi, just bought a BMW E70 with the Hamann Flash bodykit and the car is awsome, but i realy need something to boost the audio up. I got the CCC navi, speakers in 4 doors and no tweeters.. i think there might be some small subs under the front seats I couldnt find any amplifier where google told me it was supposed to be (picture), so i guess that means i got the base audio system.. At Bavsound.com there is no option for PnP amp, so question now is how can i upgrade my audio-system when i dont have an amplifier.. Someone said i couldnt use Hi/Lo-filter either because it was hardcoded or something.. Last edited by nitrox111; 08-13-2017 at 01:35 PM. |

Sadly, photobucket isn't allowing your pictures to show. Not quite sure how to help you. Plus it would be beneficial for us to know your build date and engine too.
But since you mention the CCC being your current system, I'll assume you're early build E70 (pre-facelift) and you should have at least a basic amp in the left (port side) rear compartment by the tail gate. That said, you should be able to upgrade/retrofit an NBT system and have most all of the new style infotainment system and abilities. Search google for E70 NBT retrofit and you'll find a number of companies and write up's on how to do the install. I have an '08 E70 that also has the CCC currently and also the entire kit to retrofit/install an NBT into it. I'm looking forward to that installation myself, but have been dealing with a bunch of little issues first. Hope that this helps.

I have opened the left port closest to the rear-lamps and there was only 1 box in there, ill link the google picture.. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...2&d=1326663401 I only have 1 box, and thats the one whiche is vertical in this picture, nothing more. BMW 2008 E70 3.0D 235hp I have not opened the doors to look inside, but Im pretty sure i have tweeters front and second seat row, + subs under the seats. Have looked into both CIC and NBT retrofits, but they are kinda expensive EDIT: There was no tweeters in the doors, tought i had seen something but there was just some plastic shining behind the protection there... So i guess i have the "base audio-system" whitout amplifier, if thats what they call it... So now the question is, is the amp pre-wired, and if so, where should i find the cables Last edited by nitrox111; 08-13-2017 at 01:25 PM. |

PhotoBucket no longer allows us to show pics on a website like this. They call it 3rd party something and want several hundred dollars a year to do so. I'd suggest Google Photos or Amazon Photos...

Any of you guys know about modifying f30 nbt screen to fit in e70? got sent nbt retrofit kit and the screen was from an f30 as far as I can tell, I've been told by the supplier of kit that I needed to de-case it which I have removed plastic casing, just not sure what else is envolved to make it fit in old ccc screen casing

There are now add-ons for firefox and chrome that 'fix' the Photobucket issue.

Yes its the Base Audio. There are the Hi-Fi and Top Hi-Fi systems available in the X5 as well. I have changed all of the internal speakers with the Hi-Fi speakers with mids and tweeters. The Fronts were easy, the back doors involved new door panels with the extra hole. I scored them on ebay for 135 bucks each. I also changed out the D-pillar trim and added the OEM speakers and added the OEM center channel, wired them and am waiting to decide if I want to add an amp to power them.
Adding the new mids with tweeters added a big boost to the sound. I was pleasently surprised. It is not by any means my Top Hi-Fi system from my 08 X5 but more like the Hi-Fi from my 12 X5D. I am exploring slim line subs to replace the ones under the seats because they are not garbage, just not great. I was afraid of blowing up my CIC by splicing in 10 additional speakers and more aggressive subs so I settled for just the door tweeters wired and Ill add the amp later.

Sorry to hijack a thread, but I put a one in the Audio/video forum but looks like no one hangs out in there as it got no replies.
So while we're on the subject. I just ordered adapters to replace the door speakers with aftermarket Focal 4" component sets. Also plan to add my MTX 5400 5 channel amp and a 12" sub. Found a very touted device made by a company called wavtech where I can tap into a preamp audio signal and have RCA outs for the amp and just run new wires and bypass oem post-amp wiring altogether. So anyone got a lead on a pre-fabbed sub enclosure? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |
