259s on my 2013 x5

Just put these on. Now thinking of either chroming out the window trim or blacking out the rims. What you think?

I'm not sure why you would do either? Looks just right how it is. If you have a soft spot for black rims that is the way to go. Chroming your window trim will look tacky as hell.

Thank you appreciate the feedback. Might just tint the windows then for some privacy. I just felt like black rims are in right now.

Well don't let me influence you too much. It's your ride, it should reflect you not someone else.

Black rims can look good, a lot of people still do it. Personally I found any vehicle I had with black rims, just made the nice wheels I had invisible in pics because it blended right in with the shadow of the wheel well.

Agreed. I like the all black look personally. Looks clean.

I have limo tint installed on mine. It's a white X5, but the deep black contrast looks great. It's technically not a good thing to use limo tint, but in CT they don't really seem to care. However, when I cross over into New York, that's a different story. I've been pulled over for the tint, but thankfully they've never ticketed me for it.

I think a good "legal" tint on yours would look slick. As for the wheels, you could black them out, but would you paint them as a permanent solution or use some reversible method like plasti dip? If you plan to paint them permanent, I'd either go with a professional job so they don't peel in a year and look horrible, or buy some decent rims in black with a design you're looking for.

Here's a neat site to visualize how it would look on your car

Since my initial post to now, the few issues I've had were;

1. ~200k: Cat codes of death! P0420 P0430. Solved with spark plug non-foulers. Easy job, and saved $3195. You'll need at least 1.5" non-foulers. What you'll find at the local stores will not have the depth you'll need, even if you drill. Get them on Amazon.

2. P0015. Easy fix. Simply remove the exhaust Vanos. Spray with mis airflow sensor cleaner. Toggle the solenoid with a 9 volt battery. (Don't leave connected!) Reinstall.

Thats it! No leaks no nothing. When I was under the car for the catalytic converter code fix it's clean! The way these vehicles are build is truly remarkable. Sure, you pay a little extra, but they can last so much longer than chaperons cars if you maintain them.

I love my X5! 215,000 now, and I will see 300,000 with no trouble.

The ultimate driving machine!
Is X5 still running with no cat codes? I may have to do the same fix to get the CEL off to be able to pass emission (Failed 2nd test). Can you send me photos of Non fouler set up?

I think you are also in CT. Lets meet up sometime and even we could wrench together on X5s!
