Front outside pdc support?

Hi, I’m wondering how the fromt outside pdc support is meant to mount to the bumper. I bought it with the front passenger sensor fallen into the hole, and the sensor works fine, it’s just hanging inside the bumper because theres nothing holding the little positioning support to the bumper. Looks like the previous owner tried to dual side 3M it in place, but it’s too cold for my 3m VHB to really make a good bond. My backing/ support piece seems to have clups, but my bunper doesnt look like it has any clips/ attatchments to keep the pdc support in place.

It’s actually two pieces... I had the same issue, my son smacked mine square on the sensor, broke the outside ring and pushed the sensor in to the bumper. I too bought a new mount only to learn that the entire bumper has to come off to do actually put the sensor back correctly.

Needless to say I silicones a chop stick, no shit, a chop stick (was the closest long ski set item I could find to me) to it pulled it back in to place and epoxied it...

I was thinking about epoxy/ jbweld type stuff as the solution. I have SOME access to the area because the previous owner left out the two bottom most screws from the fender liner,so with the one upward facing bolt off I can bend the bumper forwards a bit to let me see the area.

I literally put a dot of silicone caulk on the chop stick and stick it to the front of the pdc, let it dry and then pulled it up in to place in the bumper and used two part fast set epoxy to finish the job. Once the epoxy set I popped the chop stick off and cleaned the pdc with some non caustic cleaner to remove the last of the silicone. It’s still working to this day and that was probably 5 or 6 years ago that I did it. Sounds janky... but I didn’t have to pull 19 bolts out of the front end, disconnect my headlamp washers and pull the bumper... so, for now (and the last 6 yeas) I’m rolling with it

Thanks a ton for the insight! that sounds light exactly what I'll do. I know it'll need a few hours to set overnight, and this weekend I'll be able to have my x5 in a garage, so I'll tackle it this weekend so it can set without being outside in the open cold.

It was super easy. It took longer for the silicone to dry than the rest of the job did.. I used silicone though so that it didn’t “stick” to the face of the PDC and screw it up and it’s super easy to clean up afterwards. Then just use two part fast set epoxy to hold it in place in the bumper and pop the outside cap back on when it’s dry. I used a little bit of silicone to do that as well.

Good luck!
