E70 35i Won't set Evap
Almost a year ago, I got a CEL and the code indicated the DMTL pump was toast. I replaced it myself, cleared the code, and have driven for almost a year now with no further trouble (i.e. no more CEL).
I'm due for my emissions test now, and went to go make sure all the monitors are ready (my state requires 100% ready) and see that evap still hasn't set. I've got no codes, and I can hear it running after engine off sometimes, so I know it's working.
I've read a lot about these being notoriously finicky to set, but I would have thought that after a year, I'd be good. The only thing I can think of is that I drive this vehicle very infrequently even in a regular year, and even less this year. Is it possible that even though I've driven it plenty of times over the course of a year, the duration between trips has been too long for it to set?
This weekend I did another code clear to get all the monitors unset, and did a couple of drive cycles and everything has set but evap. I'm going to go do another 20+ minutes full-temperature drive today and check, but I'm about out of ideas. No codes and a running pump tells me that it should be okay, and I really don't want to take it somewhere and pay someone to drive it if that's all that is needed.
There seems to be a lot of folklore about what magic dances you have to do to get this to set. Can anyone offer some real-world help?
