Question Emissions delete now what?!

Hey! Been using the forum for a long time and finally posting. After 4 months of having my 2011 X5D at the dealer for NOX sensors and what was suppose to be one hour of labor to get through emissions (they fried the footwell module and had to wait 2 months to get that and then told me the NOx sensors wouldn’t calibrate to the DDE so I need to replace the DDE and the DPF to get it running $9600) I told them no so nicely to forget it and I towed it home. Thanks BMW for totaling my ride.

So out of frustration with the dealer and the fact even though the emissions is expired I have two years on the registration HP at tunemyeuro talked me into a DPF, EGR SCR delete with an AMT down and mid pipes, stage 2 tune. Lots of late nights wrenching in the cold but it’s done! Runs great which is a lot better than not at all. A little smelly- I didn’t opt for the cat.Still need to do the upper EGR race pipe and I have a brand new pair of NOX sensors if anyone is trying to keep their x5D stock.

So my questions is with no CEL on what is the emissions tech looking at with will fail the car. The monitors I was told? I mean I’m just happy to have it running with two years left to drive it and then sell it out of state if I have to. I did pull the F05 fuse too just not sure what the emissions tech is seeing.

You can pull up on almost any scanner which monitors are ready for emissions. In Wisconsin you can get a waiver if you spend enough $ attempting to fix and still doesn't pass. Look into similar for CT.

Yeah I did look into a waiver. The amount is close to $1000 and has to be spent at a emissions repair facility which the dealer isn’t and it has to be reapplied for every year. So wasn’t an option. The dealer couldn’t get the car running without replacing the DDE then no guarantee the DPF or parts of the scr would need work. Car wasn’t worth repairing to stock.
I’m happy to run it as long as I can. Any idea what the F05 fuse pulling does? I forget to pull when I first out the car together. It ran fine before and after I went back and pulled it.

According to the guy who did my tune it'll still scan just fine. You'll just have to find an emissions shop who's not smart enough to look for the DPF. The EGR pipe looks stock enough under the engine cover. We deleted mine and took it in out of curiosity and it passed just fine. I did add some hot shots EDT in a double dose before I took it in and it ran clean enough to pass here in CO. New house doesn't have emissions in my county so I don't have to worry anymore. Once you hit your 2 years I'd just take it in and see what happens. I'm not sure how the coding/tune works, but the guy told me it basically looks for the items and the tune just accepts them like they're still bolted on.

I too wish I had spent the extra coin for the cat. I was like "meh, how bad can it be?" Apparently pretty bad.

You do the swirl valve delete as well?

I didn't replace the cat, shop said it'll stink a ton without it. I may, if anything the turbo sound is awesome! I did do the swirl delete, man those were gummed up. The whole thing is. Deleted EGR as well. Currently soaking the intake in some purple power and it already looks like it's sitting in 6 gallons of oil. May need to do it twice. Tried to find a sonic cleaning service in Denver but couldn't find anyone who does it, so PP for the win!
