2008 x5 e70 interlock E faulty

hi BMW family

I have a 2008 x5 e70 that is stuck in park and the P light flashing
towed the vehicle to the dealership
they replaced the gear shifter Assy with a reconditioned unit that I supplied them with, and BMW have programmed it but concern still present

the code is A82E INTERLOCK E FAULTY
I also 2 days before did replace the park brake switch as old one was sticking
could this be related or pure coincidence?

can someone help me please!

I'm based in Australia if it matters
vehicle is still at the dealership, but they haven't had a chance to look into the car yet as they are pretty busy
