The high rates and no discounts are discouraging us as well (my wife is in the market to trade in here 2002 E53). We really need the third row (as tiny as it is to stick the kids, both under 7) when we have out of town guests. We are starting to look at other vehicles. Anyone have any suggestions as to what else to look at?

Perhaps the MDX comes closest but without the appeal. You can probably lease it for quite a bit cheaper also. The Q7 is still there but priced similarly to the X5 in lease rates I would gather.

Thanks for all the X5 information you have provided! Sorry it did not work out for you. I think I will wait a year and see what happens with pricing etc.

the couple 3L's I drove felt adequate but nothing compared to the 4

i think that if you went for the 4.8L instead of waiting and then supercharging you'd be happier sooner and under warranty
