i think X5 3.0 will be like e90 3.0
1 year run then upped to 335i huge hp/tq increase almost same price not to mention 328 (3.0 ltr with higher hp) for less than e90 3.0 i'm guessing anyone with e90 3.0 is kicking themselves right about now so just be a little patient, it's still waaaay too early into production to just jump on it |

The 5 series for 08/09 will get the turbo motor, it will be the 535i, so its quite possible for the X5 to get it.

The 550i uses a 4.8L and the 335ic uses a 3.0L engine. I wouldn't expect the N54 engine in the 335ic to make it to the X5 until at least 2 years from now or until the first facelift of the E70. This is somewhat going off the precedent set by the E90.
BMW is cunning in that every 2-3 years they either upgrade engines or facelift to keep the consumer interested. |

Don't you think 60HP is enough of a difference (once they give the 4.8 the same hp as in the 5 series)?
If the I6 turbo engine was really 300HP, then I'd agree that 60HP is a good spread. However from reviews it appears that the true HP and torque are both closer to 330. That would make the spread about 30HP and 30 ft-lbs, which for me would not justify an additional 8-10k, especially when you factor in the additional weight of the v8. |

I would wait for a while because the new x5 will come out with some problems like most cars do. They will also add some more extras to the car later on. And the 01-06 x5s are good enough at the moment

Farewell for Now :(
This Thread is as good as any ....
Well after (2) E53's, I put a deposit down in May 2006 for a new and anticipated E70 4.8i and have been patiently waiting ...... Have done the daily searches .... and I mean daily !!! .... contributed to the X5world forum ... read all the BMW news bulletins and Test Drive Reports ... waited for the Cdn options and associated price lists ... waited for the Cdn Lease rates + Residuals .... Touched the new E70 ... sat in it ... glared at it ... test drove it ... even took the wifey along for the experience .... BUT negotiated to no avail ..... . My Production Delivery schedule = initially Oct ... then early Nov ... then .... US Thanksgiving ... then week 48 ... then week 50 ... now scheduled after Xmas into 2007 .... then who knows ?????????????????? My last E53 Lease expired in the summer 2006 ... extended my lease until Aug and paid thru the nose .... and can you believe it that I've been driving a "rental" car since the beginning of Sept and waiting .... talk about loyal or should I say stupid !!!Well today after looking at ALL the facts ($$$ and the Canadian "Rape-Me" Lease costs) .... Guess what ... I cancelled my order and picked up my deposit ...I've decided that I will drive my wife's 2006 X3 and lease her an NEW alternative 4x4 to house our (3) teenage sons and all their ski equipment ... and wait for the cooling off "rape-me" period of the new E70. Honestly ... Many Thanks to LeMansX5, SARAFIL, Scott27 and the entire X5world forum for all your help and guidance ... Glad I found you all ... A truly fruitful learning experience PS: I'm now vaporizing over to the X3 forum. Best Wishes to all of you over the Festive Season and Good Luck in 2007 and also to the 1st .. X5world owner of a spanking new E70

Bo, sorry to hear of all the problems. You are not the only one. I too have had similar experience with my order, dates being changed, no information on hitch availability, etc, etc. I to have sold my previous vehicle in antisipation and based on dealer information which changes more than the diaper on my 15 month old daughter. But here's the real kicker....I planned on purchasing the 4.8 fully loaded, paying 85% cash and financing the rest over 3 years through business arrangements so i could expense some of the cost. Happily complied with BMW finance requirement for information. It has been 2 weeks and they still cant' make a decision. Now they want me to co-sign for a lousy 18 grand. Provided them with what they asked for, still they can't make a decision. Lack of credit information they say. MMMM,Duh, I have a very profitable company, debt free, cash rich, internal finance, no outstanding liabilities, solid growth and profit, and personally debt free, a couple of properties, very financially secure etc. But no bad debt or outstanding debt. Now they have the nads to ask for property tax information. That was it for me. What kind of bean counter and people do they have working there? This was a no brainer for them. A grade 5 student could figure this one out
. I am cancelling my order i say...no wait they say give us a day to resolve.....resolve what I say? Next they will want to send out the BMW company Proctologist to look up my #$%?. No thanks. Maybe they should change thier slogan to "Ultimate Buying Experience" CANCELLED. Give me my money back I'll go buy from a company that respects and appreciates my business and wants to keep the customer happy. Owner Privileges BMW??? I've experienced it. BMW ownership advantage? I am happy i don't have to experience that either!
