That's what I was getting at, are all these little problems being reported here of any concern or just really minor things that BMW takes care of relatively quickly so they are more of minor inconveniences than anything....

No they are just that, minor inconviences that we like to gripe about. If you go to any other manufactures boards you will hear the same type of gripes. Nobody makes a perfect car...it just does not exist.

ok, I do regret that I didnt get the 4.8...well almost, as I am amazed at how fast the 3.0si really is.

but after seeing this video, I wish I had a 4.8:

No regrets.

The 07 4.8i makes my traded in 02 4.6is feel absolutly stone age. All the extras are well worth the price of admission. I usually get my vehicles pretty loaded so the overall price jump was not huge.

Sure I am "giving up performance" with 0.3 second slower 0 - 60 time but I challenge anyone who can tell the difference. Those that claim they can feel such subtle losses in performance are BSers in my opinion. The handling is just as good with a much plusher ride. I love the cornering ability of the 4.6is but it was punishing on rough roads. I personally think the 4.8i does just as well with less wear and tear on the back.

The one thing I do miss is the alcantara seats. Real leather is nice but I was more than impressed with the synthetic suede. Nice and "grippy" under hard cornering and zero signs of wear after 4.5 years.

While I agree with some posters on this thread about not waiting, I have decided to wait until Spetember to order my 08MY. Hopefully BMW will take orders earlier, say July/August.

If I was getting another M3, which is just my toy to play with on weekends, I would not wait a second. However, since the X will be my daily driver, I don't have time to frequently visit the shop to work out 1st year production issues. No matter how small or minor these issues are, they still require hours of my time to deal with. And talk about one pissed X owner if it leaves me stranded on a busy day or causes a missed appointment.

And yes, I realize the '08 may have issues also, but if history in the auto business tells us anything, the probability is much higher the 1st year out.

I also hope they paint the bumpers on the '08. I hate the acres of black plastic, as most of you have seen in my other post.

I don't think people buy BMW because of reliability. We all know that Japanese cars such as Toyota and Honda are better known for reliability. The main reason people buy BMW because it is FUN to DRIVE and the prestige that comes owning such a car. Just my 2 cents.

Drive a Honda Accord, then drive a 528.....no comparison. BMW's drive like no other ride, hands down. I have yet to have a friend ride in a BMW and not want it.

If fun and prestige was the only reason to buy a BMW, why would anyone buy an X5 or X3? Get a 3er or 5er. Less money, more fun and prestige.

My M3 is fun to drive and I could care less about what others think. I own it because I enjoy it, but, I don't expect it to be the most reliable car around. I would hope BMW realizes SAV buyers would expect greater reliability than those who buy their cars. I believe most SAV buyers DO utilize them as daily drivers.
