Software update enable front access to Rear Entertainment?

I've had my new 3.0 for about 5 days now, and while I'm enjoying the vehicle, there are a few things bugging me about it. On this software topic, can anyone with the Rear Entertainment option confirm that they can control (start, stop, FF/RW, etc) a rear mounted DVD from the front IDrive? I can only select AUX and have the DVD audio play through the speakers, but I can't control the DVD. Pretty much defeats the purpose of entertaining youngsters in car seats who can't figure out the remote (which, by the way, is also horrible... but that is for a different thread).

I have to take the vehicle in for service this week to replace a running board (rubber grommets are not attached in the passenger side so the whole board is a slippery water trap) and replace/repair the center safety belt because it won't pull out from the seat. So, I'd like to have them update software while they are at it. Appreciate any feedback!
