Just because you personally think the new Bimmers are ugly relative to your old Bimmer doesn't it is so. You can't refute the fact that sales figures for the new 7 and 5 series have increased -- not declined -- over the previous generation models.

I recall E36 owners having the same reaction to the E46 when it came out in 1999. E36 owners cried bloody murder at the insanely ugly E46. What happened to those people? Do you think anyone would actually choose an E36 over an E46 now? The same thing will happen to all of our X5's. They will fade into history as a great but obsolete model.
Well Spoken, I am with you 100% I think most people are scared of change, The 5 Series rocks, the 7 Series kicks butt the 3 Series is cool as hell and the new X5 will be good too. Many people need to see other companies imitating your car in order to realize that it's actually good, .

I respectfully disagree. I love change. I'm an early adopter. I want, need, must have, and cannot live without, the latest and greatest gadgets, features, and marketing hype. And I don't like the look of the new X in photos. Perhaps it will look better in person. I don't like the look of the 7 series (I love driving the mutha tho ), I like the 5 (and LOVED driving the 545 6sp w/ active steering no loss ), I love the new 3, and every damn morning, when I get into my X, I smile and remind myself I am a lucky SOB to be driving such an awesome technological machine that happens to, imho, look great as well. Looks are a subjective thing, and to each his own.

Wait, one more thing! I'll trash your Pontiac!

I think looks of a car do matter. Driving on a highway, when i see a E60 in my rearview, it not instantaneous that I say its BMW as sometimes its looks like Pontiac and only when its closer that I am sure its bangled BMW.
After almost 2 years the E60 looks have still not grown on me. I still prefer E39. Some rumors are that E60 is having a minor facelift this fall when the naming changes to 550...with an E90 like kidney grill. And wonder why X3 is getting a early facelift this September.
