i've always had it set to "blue"/cold.

my solution is to shut off my rear climate control. when i do that, the a/c output in the front DOUBLES... but d*mn, I paid extra money for an option that reduces the performance of my x5. sheesh.

yes, I noticed that too.

Since I discovered my issue in post #1, I have been able to set my AC on "AUTO" and "soft" and leave the temp on 68 ...I dont ever have to touch it again. The temp outside has been averaging 95 degrees w/ 100% humidity and when I get in the car it takes about 30 seconds to cool it down, then the fan gradually backs down to a barely audible sound and it maintains the temp. BTW- the side vents have strong air flow too.

Now if I turn on the rear AC its a totally different issue, and yes I agree the air volume drops about 50%...WHY?
I've been telling the kids..."shut up, sweats good for ya...I'm very comfortable up here"

Better question is WHY did we pay extra for this?

BMW- you got some splaining to do.

I cant understand why it has to be such a difficult and comlexe car.Even the dealers dont know how to operate it.I am wondering how safe is it to drive and change a radio station by using the i drive.Pointless function the i drive is.

The first photo shows the temp inside my car today.

The second photo shows how my idrive was setup. Inside Climate- "AUTOMATIC PROGRAMS" there are three settings:
SOFT
MEDIUM
INTENSIVE
Next to these settings is a scale that an be adjusted up/down, it was set at the maximum. I even tried adjusting this higher and lower and it didnt really affect the airflow. I have played with this adjustment a dozen times. Except today, I accidentally went past the zero setting and noticed the gauge turned blue....WOW....EUREKA!!! I HIT THE MOTHER LOAD!!!!!!!!!!

So now look at the third image...I set this scale at the highest blue setting and now I have air flow on the side vents. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

I still dont really understand what it all means, I guess the red settings are for the heater...anyone understand the logic here??
Hi X5FX,
Have you find out the meaning of "Adjusting temperature for the upper body area"?

It confuses me by setting temperature for both "driver's side" and "driver's upper body".

Also, I don't feel the air to footwell at all, no matter how the setting is.
Do I do anything wrong?
upper body

On English manual, P.100 and P.104. But it does not mention anything about "blue" and "red".
