May be I should set it to have 4 blue bar? But, still, I don't understand the real meaning of blue and red. |

Why do these damn germans have to make things so freakin complicated. It's a/c for goodness sake. Don't get me started.

Not sure it was mentioned in this thread but the purpose of this function is to allow you to customize the impact of 'soft' 'medium' and 'intensive' for the driver and passenger.

I have not had any AC issues in the X5, but I remember reading about the red and blue stuff, and if you had an E53, you remember that the dials on top of the vent do the same thing. It either makes the air slightly colder or warmer. So the HVAC in the X5 works excellent, even with the rear climate on 100% of the time. I haven't found that an issue.
But in the X3, it feels like all the cold air is escaping. It never gets comfortable in there ![]() Glad you got yours fixed x5fx

so you dont notice a difference when rear air is on vs off?
I have 50% less airflow when rear air is on + the a/c is very loud

Am i missing something? The E70 manual pg 103-104 explains all of this. http://www.xoutpost.com/pdf/e70/2007%20X5%20(E70).pdf. What's the problem?

This is an old thread...but read post #1. This is not explained in the manual. You would have to go into the idrive and play with the settings to understand. "What's the problem?" here ya go: When the rear AC is turned on, the front ac loses 50% of its airflow. Also the system acts as if its possessed. The airflow just changes randomly...turns warm, air stops flowing from side vents, flow surges, blower volume is at least 200% louder, etc.. I have to lower the auto setting 9 degrees to stay somewhat cool. As long as I keep the rear air turned off the system works great. I can set the auto at 78 degrees and I stay cold...but as soon as I turn on the rear air the ac is a POS! and the cabin does not STAY cool. mine is at the dealer now for this issue.
