Question Metal Key used -- settings gone???

I have comfort access and it had been working just fine.

Just because I never had, I pulled out the metal key and unlocked. Unlocked OK. Sat down and realized everything was wrong -- mirrors, seat, etc.

I got out, locked it, unlocked it by touch - didn't reset.

I reached down and pushed "1" and held -- seat didn't move.

I touched a preset button on the radio -- nothing. Light touch -- shows all missing.

I tried a variety of things, including letting it sit overnight -- settings are just gone.

I tried my wife's key (with comfort access, and my key nowhere near) and it had been forgotten as well -- all settings erased, no seat movement when door opened, no presets, mirrors did not move (which is slightly different than when I opened with the metal key as they DID move but to the wrong place).

What did I do wrong?
