Why kill the 4.4? Dumb... It's not exactly nice too look at, either... Let's hope that these spy shots are horribly wrong! I don't think you could do too much to improve on the looks of the current X5, so BMW better be careful! I'm not holding my breath for a beautiful car, though... We all know its going to be a big X3.

Because the 4.4i is being replaced by a 4.8 liter V8....No more 545i, 645Ci and 745iL.
Already the 750i and 750iL are roaming the streets of California. In the fall, the 550i and 650Ci will be out. They are using the 4.8 liter V8 engine. So the 4.8 liter because the "new" 4.4i....However, I heard that BMW may release the 4.0i liter V8 to the USA..... Quote:

What I wonder is what this will do to the resale of the current 4 8's...
Hopefully people will hate the looks... at least long enough for me to get rid of mine...then it will be time for the new X5 5.0is...mmmmmm V-10! or maybe the new ///M5X!!!

I wonder if car companies find out what current owners feel about their current vehicles before redesigning or just find out what we think about future models. Itd be a good way to sell what the public actually wants. BMW is really starting to wash us out.

Dont like it as much as the current X5. It does look like a larger X3. What is so special about the 4.4 over 4.8? It seems like more the better as long as you dont have to pay for it. With F1 going to V8's next year I think the V10 is going to be shelved soon. The only reason BMW put one in the M5 was for the Formula 1 marketing, and thats why they were against the change to the current V10 formula.
The next supercar engine is going to be a V12 (Ferrari fighter) or a supercharged V8.

If the spy photos are accurate I'll be keeping my 04 for a while. I will have to consider another brand for my next purchase. If we wanted X3's we would have bought them and pocketed the coins. Get a clue guys!!!
