That's because BMW doesn't mount anything inside their wheels. They just use the speed sensor from the ABS system to sense the possible flat. Under inflated tires rotate at a slightly different speed than fully inflated tires.

that's even more proof that BMW took the cheap way out and provided less technology that other, less expensive cars are offering.

it would be so much better if we could see actual pressures so we knew which ones to adjust and fill up. if they all started getting low, which certainly happens over time... then we'd never know it because as you said, the ABS system only measures differences. stupid.

That is the biggest croak of utter rubbish from BMW.
I am sure you are being taken for a ride by BMW Australia or the dealership.
I will suggest you call BMW to verify such claims.
I have had two puncture with my RFT, and had both of them repaired till I changed them out after 30K miles two months ago.
So, yes you can repair RFT tires long as you have about 18-22 psi tire pressure.
Yes, you can also change out the tires without voiding the warranty.

If you read the warranty booklet, most automakers will tell you that the tires are warranteed by the tire manufacturers.

Is it me or does your car paint have a problem? Why there is so much difference between the rear door color and and the rear fender? Pls let me know as I had a terrible experience lately with my dealer and refused delivery of the car because of that exact same difference. He claimed it was from BMW, I was 100% sure the side was damaged and resprayed. To end the story I am taking delivery of another one soon. BTW, all this on Space Grey....

My Space Gray's paint is uniform. No color difference on any panel.

I have heard Dunlops can be repaired other brands not.. I'll call BMW to confirm as this was from the tire dealer, the tire dealer also said the tire manufacturer would not warranty the tire if this happened as well !!... Note that In Australia I have not heard of tire insurance and warranty is limited to defects in manufacturing only.. not if you get a puncture from a object not related to manufacture... I'll check it out....

I had no problems getting my Bridgestone RFT fixed, as I knew it had not been driven with under 22 psi (which was the danger point according to my tire dealer).

The Continental Tire website specifically says that their RFTs can not be repaired. I would tend to believe the tire manufacturer.

Update..

Two weeks wait on the Continental Runflat - none in the country ... sound familiar ? The tyre has been repaired in the meantime.. unofficially I should order the new runflat.. which is around $800 AUD.. based on the driving I did when flat i.e about 5 km prior to reinflating , and the inspection of the tyre by the repairer I may well not order the tyre and leave as is...but of course that is not what I will do of course

I am glad you were able to repair it.
If I may humbly suggest, please order a non RFT and wheel and keep it in the garage to serve as a temproary replacement should you have a flat in the future.
That was what I did with mine till I replaced the tyres.
