mods, please delete 70+% of the threads in this forum since most of what's discussed here can be found in the manual or on the bmw website. .

I have to say, sometimes the way they get things wrong actually helps you to understand it better, or at least the INTENT of the function / feature / etc. (sorry - wish I had an example in front of me) I read the manual several times while waiting for delivery. It's really a lot to take in, and you probably won't remember it well until you get your hands on it. But yes - definitely - READ IT. Yes, ALMOST everything I've seen mentioned here is in the manual. I don't think the "if you have the rear wiper on and you're in reverse it stays on instead of going intermittent" is in there, though. And I don't remember the deal about holding the "main" overhead light button for three seconds to turn them all off until you hit it again is, either. But I'd have to go look. And it's cold in the garage. :O Last edited by ukwildcat; 01-12-2011 at 11:13 PM. |

Out of the...5-10 people who have replied since I bumped this thread, you're the only one to have a problem. Relax, chief.

Hey, I vote this becomes a sticky. Yes, some or all of these things are in the manual...but isn't it nice to have a quick "abridged" version we can all enjoy?

What does the price of the vehicle have to do with it? |

Kind of everything! In a cheap car, one does not expect to have built in Navigation. So, in a cheap/economy car/entry level model....an aftermarket GPS unit is no big deal. In an expensive car, one expects built in Navigation.
If you had a $5 million home, would you be happy with a window unit A/C in each room? Would you be happy with a cheap Whirlpool 4 burner stove or other cheap appliances? How much one spends on somethings, totally dictates what one expects to get, for what we all spend our VERY hard earned money on! |

Unfortunately, the BMW Nav system is terrible, and there is no way to fix it. So when I travel, I use my Garmin on the windshield. Am I happy about it? Certainly not. But if it's the only way to get the accurate information I want, I'll do it, whether the vehicle cost $5,000 or $100,000. |
