Check with the dealer to see if it can be an accessory add on.

I would be interested in knowing that as well. The TV option is not offered in the US and I would like to know if a retrofit is possible. On my wife's E53 X5 I bought the oem BMW Euro/International TV module and a wiring harness and it was just plug-n-play....everything worked. However, on the newer BMW's (like my E60) it seems like either you can't add things after production, or if you can it would have to be programmed by the dealer so the car/iDrive recognizes the module. So if I had to guess I would say that there probably would be a TV retrofit kit, but that the dealer would have to install/program it..........in which case US dealers will almost certainly NOT do it.

Let us know if you find out.

Hi there
I believe there is a kit with the following parts:
65120412998 DVBT RECEIVER
65120414333 REMOTE CONTROL
65120412999 ANTENNA X2 (GLASS MOUNT)

However I have not been able to find out if the wiring loom is pre installed.
Am also reseaching an after market retrofit solution.

Regards

Aftermarket solutions are available for the E60/E90 (and almost certainly E70) where you can connect a module to the screen and connect different devices such as DVD player, TV tuner, etc. to the module....then just switch between the different inputs to see them on the screen. The problem is that I do not want a solution like that. On our E53 the OEM BMW tuner (which was a retrofit) is integrated with the NAV computer, so you can use the same input dial that is used for other vehicle functions to control the TV functions (which is listed in the BMW menu along NAV and other functions). It's fully integrated without any clumsy external stuff and I would want the same functionality with the E70 retrofit.

I would love to find out any info you end up getting on whether the E70 is pre-wired for the TV module, and whether the dealer has to do any programming or is it Plug-n-Play. I also need to find out whether the tuner has international compatibility (PAL, NTSC, etc.) like the old E53 one did.

Hi sav i have seen plenty of these solutions you mention, maily from us sites actually but none that give the control to the idrive

Nice one ste, let us know how you get on with that, im sure the wireing loom must already be in place for it, would be good to know how you get on installing it if you decide to proceed with it!

From that link..... " Compatible wit: BMW (E60/E63/E64/E90)
5/6/3 series"

Looks great....but didn't notice the X series or E70 model listed as compatible......

It says that the inputs are selectable with the iDrive controller, but it still does not have an integrated TV tuner as far as I can tell. You would have to connect an external aftermarket TV tuner (which would not be controlled with the iDrive controller) to one of it's inputs.

So to me it does not offer the same functionality as the OEM BMW TV tuner which has full integration and control with iDrive.
