I'm afraid that's not how i'm interpreting the OP's question. I still think he's referring to the vehicle top speed limiter and simply asking if that can be adjusted within iDrive. I can't make the mental leap to the speed limit alarm function and how that aspect would be impacted by tyre choice.

Hi,

Many thanks for your answers. Sorry if my question was not clear.
In fact I have 19 inch wheels and have been informed to late by the seller that with the All season tires the car will have a maximum speed of 210 km/h beacause that kind of tires are H-rated for Europe.
So I wanted to know, as the X5 has normally a higher top speed if the speed limitation can be changed per I-drive or only at the garage.

It really isn't an issue.

Your top speed (governor) is probably set to 130 mps from the factory by the fact that your car has the 19" tires / wheels; I am assuming these are OEM tires / wheels because you have not said anything different. The only way you would have the higher limiter from the factory is if your car originally come with the 20" wheels.

According to the TIS data, BMW uses two 19” H rated tires, the BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L 400* RFT and the MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR HP* ZP – so you should have one of these tires, no?

So unless you have something else going on, you have H rated 19” tires and a governor already set to 130mph. You can not adjust the governor (top speed) via i-drive, but you can adjust the speed warning alarm via i-drive to let you know when you hit any desired speed.

Cheers,
KEF

You'll probably find you do, it's the official BMW product/model code.

E53 = old version X5
E70 = new version X5
E83 = current version X3

Yes we do in Canada. They refer to the body style.

According to the 2002 BMW X5 brochure the 4.6is and the 4.4i Sport do not have a speed limiter. Has anyone with a 4.4i Sport experienced the engine cutting out at very high speed?
