LOL!

HOWEVER... as for that... we Audi fanboys don't really say "quattro" in our car names. I don't go around saying, "I have an Audi S4 Cabriolet quattro." It's just known. You have to have at least one car with quattro to be truly accepted into any Audi forum... unless, of course, it's an A3; the 2.0T FWD is far better than the 3.2 AWD.

Yes, that is the plan. X5s with DPC are supposed to have this logo. Other cars will also have as Scott mentioned.

There will be no 3-series sDrive35i.

But:

335i
sDrive

or

335i
xDrive

Also eg. Z4 sDrive35i, X3 xDrive30d etc.

Most Audi cars sold in Europe are FWD!

Needless and confusing. Sorry to be critical of a brand I'm so fond of...

Kind of reminds me of moving from an elegant design to the flame surfacing concept.

What ??
Why does the Z4 go through the bizarre naming program, but the 3-Series does not to an extent? Why do you need "sDrive" (which sounds very similar to "xDrive") when it is implied that it is RWD? the "i" in "335i", and the absent "x" implies it is also RWD. The "x" implies it is AWD.
All BMW SAV are equipped with xDrive. It is implied in the "X" of "X5" or "X3". So why does it need to be redundant?
And while "3.0" gave somewhat of a hint about the engine, what good does "30" do? It has nothing to do with the vehicle.

Sorry for the rant, but this is ridiculous.

sDrive = RWD with active rear electro-mechanic differential

Not all model will get this configuration. Especially not in Europe.

xDrive ... Perhaps X1 won't be AWD exclusive.

BMW also want to expose xDrive TM more , putting the badge on the vehicle. Same case with sDrive.

Engine displacement codes are becoming a bit irrelevant with the turbo tech.

How would you badge several models with same engine yet difererent power output?

Perhaps 330i, 330ii, 330iii

With all new niche models on the way BMW needed to rethink the engine + drive nomenclature.
