X5 3.0d to 3.0sd

Hi all,

First of all, great forum, glad I found it!

I ordered an X5 3.0d but now my dealer proposed to upgrade my order to 3.0sd. It seems with the options I selected the uplift won't be that much.
Did anybody drive both yet? Do you feel the difference in power?
Is is worth it?

Other question on the side, tunning the 3.0sd engine gets it up to 340pk and 700nm, did anybody do this?

Thanks,

B.

PS: Have to await delivery for may, seems so long...

Take the upgrade to sd, you bought an x5 so if you want a 3d you can better drive the x3

I am getting the sd first was told Feb deliver, then April then March and today they say May. I ordered in November so dont feel too bad. I do believe worth waiting. Mine by the way is a replacement for a lemon 3.0d.
When did you order?

Get the SD! I've had mine for a month....it's great. There is a 6month plus waiting list in the UK for them...bar a few dealer demonstrators M Sports with huge specs on them that are available.

I ordered mine in november '07, delivery expected for may '08. The dealer told me changing to the sd would not change the delivery, they have a second quota for sd's.
The shipment from US to Belgium takes 4 to 6 week, and getting on, or missing the boat is what delay's the delivery, so they told me.

I thing I'll go for the sd, nice to have the extra NM.

Did anybody do engine tunning for the sd?

Not yet. I am thinking about visiting DMS with mine though....they have been tuning the engine for three years since it came out in the 535d. That counts for a lot for me.

I have a friend running a 335d, he got it tuned up to 340hp and about 700nm. He has been driving it for 6 months, no problems up to now.

Do you know anything about the brakes, do they need to be upgraded? What is DMS delivering as hp and torque?

That sound like similar levels to DMS from memory. Given that BMW felt it necessary to upgrade the brakes for the SD already maybe they are an issue, though I think I would be more concerned about the automatic gearbox being able to handle the torque.
