Angry My Faults with new x5 (5th visit)

had the car since nov 07 (built in feb 07) since then I have had problems with touch keys going mad on main display when sat nav working for more than 1hour- dealer changed face panel reload software) bmw admit problem only faults after min 1hr driving so not sure yet if this has fixed it. steering noises - resloved by dealer creasing a stering bush!! - what on a new bmw! (two visits this took so doubt this is long term solution).

Bad creaks from front dash - (anyone else with this or am i going mad?) - so far they tried packing it out , cutting roof panel back from front windscreen (yes this is true on my £45k baby) - still on going problem.

pdc sensors/paint now failed beep constant in reverse gear )
sun visor - unclips when folded back.

£45,000 car - 5 visits so far in 5months owning, well done bmw......

anyone else with these problems please let me know?

My 2007 X5 3.0si was beyond a nightmare. I don't even have the time to elaborate on all the electronic problems (PDC, Navi, headlights, door locks...) Yes, it had dash creaks as well.

So far, my 2008 4.8i has been SO much better. I still have a minor, occasional creak/rattle from the dash area...but much better than my 2007.

Besides from a Service Bulletin about Excessive Battery Drain, my '08 been great.

First year models ('07 X5) ALWAYS have more issues. BMW tests their cars maybe more than any car maker in the world, but it's not the same when there are tens of thousands of vehicles on the road, being used and challenged in thousands of different ways.

Sorry mate!! Doesn't the UK have "lemon laws" regarding new cars? The USA, especially California is very pro consumer!

thanks

Thanks for reply, can I ask how or why did you change your 07 to 08 so soon was it these problems or did you do a deal with dealer?

If this my problems carry on what are the chances of a car swap anyone?

Yes, I returned my '07, due to continued problems. My car was in for service, the same day I bought it. No joke!!

I am "not allowed" to discuss the terms of the return, due to a contract I signed with BMWNA and my Dealership. Both compaines were excellent, and I have the upmost respect for how BMW handled my case. BMWNA was generous, understanding and very fair. They made me a lifelong BMW customer!!!

Hey Big Easy!

Not given any real details, but The BMW SIB 61 02 07, had something to do with my car "not going to sleep" as it should, and also waking up too frequently, when it shouldn't. That was my "explanation". Sorry can't offer you more details!

Thanks for your reply. My tracking device was taking a bit too much off the battery apparently, readjusted now.

Cheers,

It's interesting to hear about another customer having to sign a gag order with BMW so all of us won't be biased in our glorious opinion of the company. This happened to one of my clients as well, except in his case, his 7 series burned to the ground while parked in his driveway. Good thing it wasn't in the garage, huh? I'm glad to hear they made it right in your case, but it leaves me thinking I should purchase something else.

They could've just went above and beyond to right the issue and wouldn't want everyone else expecting the same treatment. You never know.

I handed my first E70 back, no gag order, had a loaner for 5 months until the new one came, dealer was very good, head office was a a*****s.
They leave a lot of it to the dealer, have got a M3 convertable on order and my daughter has a 3 ser on order.
