Dealer told me that this is really an customer service issue between the client and the dealer. There is not an SIB from BMW on this. As a courtesy the dealer can replace through warranty. There is no SIB on the headlight cracking, however, there is one on the headlight fogging. Ask the dealer to replace as a fogged up headlight.

Thanks for the info Denalio. Dealer down here will do anything to avoid work, which is stupid if you ask me since BMW pays for their labor.

The BMW engineer looked at it and said it was a stone chip, I said how the hell is it a stone chip if the outside is still smooth? That much impact on the bottom of the lens will also chip the bumper, but that part is super smooth too.

I told the engineer about this tread, his comment was that "He doesn't look at anything on the internet". LOL

After I commented on his unwillingness to help a customer, he reluctantly agreed to look at the pictures you posted, but I doubt he actually looked at them. What a bunch of crock these guys are. It makes me not want to get another BMW.

I have the same problem and have reported to the dealer today. They
said they will report this issue to headquarters and see if warranty can
cover the replacement.

My car was brought in 2007/07, 3.0 Si.

My dealer just called me that they will replace the whole set of crack front light for me.

Hope all you guys have yours replaced, too.

Just want to bring this issue to surface again.
I had both right and left headlight replaced under warranty.
However, my left head light starts to have similar syndrome recently. I know the dealer
won't replace it now.

Those who are still under warranty period, go check your head light and replace it under
warranty (if possible) before it is too late.

Thanks for bumping this, I've been looking at second hand X5s and one I looked at had this (it was still in warranty though). I thought it was due to chips etc but thought it was a little odd since our high mileage X3 doesn't. It put me off the car we were looking at somewhat but now when I look at other cars I'll know what the deal is.
