Agreed though...driver and situation are factors.

Ok lemme get this straight...the comparison tests and all the corrected number objective testing from magazines...you don't believe that. The videos showing the two cars racing...you don't believe that. What you believe is the random vague factory quoted non-standardized numbers some of which are for 0-60 and some of which are for 0-62 and don't say which is faster??? Come on, dude you gotta be kidding. Face it, stock for stock the 2006 Cayenne Turbo S (last year it was made) and the 2008 Cayenne Turbo are not as fast as either the ML63 or the SRT8. The 2009 Turbo S will be closer but I wouldn't be surprised if it still wasn't as fast. Whatever the case, here's to hoping the X5 V8TT will rock them all!

Good discussion fellas...and fun videos to watch....
Either way, it looks like the X5 team has its' work cut out for it if they are indeed looking to out-accelerate both the ML63 and the Cayenne Turbo S. Are you sure that is the goal?? They'd have to seriously bore out the current TT V8 to even get close to those two.

All subjective I guess...As close as the comparisons may be, I give the nod to the Turbo S with it's higher threshold/vmax. I just didn't find those videos convincing when i came across some of them whilst in the market for new performance suv (till i heard of X5 ///M, then gave up searching). There are plenty videos online of people claiming their cars beat a certain vehicle but doesn't clearly show the vehicle or model. Hopefully, you'll see at the tracks for yourselves and timeslips.

StanF18...M GMBH surely has it's work cut out...i'm just glad to see them finally entering the picture. Considering what Porsche did to their 4.8-liter engine, new intake system and a tweaked and remapped engine management system for the Turbo S to get another 50 hp for a total of 550 out of the new, direct-injection, twin-turbo V-8...there may be hope of competition from BMW. I always believed there was a ripe market for X5 ///M.

OP...I assume you have little or no interest in the ML, as you're comparing Cayenne to X5. If Turbo S or X5 ///M is out of the question...there is an X5 50i in the works...

don't forget the x6 as well. i'm not interested in inline performance, but I am interested in value and technology (not just engine output) such as body roll management systems, suspension, safety, reliabilty, built quality, etc.
