BMW Assist is starting to become a bit useless; Meiac had 2 flats and called them on a weekend, only to get a rude operator and absolutely no help at all.

It's definitely worth a call to BMW NA for both the brake failure and the poor Assistance. Glad you are okay.

Then the dealer dented, swirled the ish out of and held my car four days (while I lost my vacation).

I was impressed, however, BMW NA read my rant on a board, and stepped in to get everything fixed, if you don't hear something, I'd send them a message, they are on this board.

Get AAA for sure. BMW Assist didn't even help, (not only would they not, when I told the guy I wasn't "ma'am" he hung up on me) it was AAA that towed my car to the only open dealer. Something needs to be done about this though, I know that 99.9% of BMW owners (Badgewhores excluded) probably have AAA or the Worthless "Classic Road Response" that came with their tire insurance but seriously? It remains to this day the only gripe I have with my car, and knowing that if I had an issue with my car at school, I'm going straight to AAA, because my car would require a tow to Charlotte, where I have a contact, and has a much better reputation than the local one.

Get all your records together, organize them in a binder, and DO NOT ACCEPT THE CAR until they have noted and found the issue. Don't allow for the "could not replicate" bullshit, and bribing your SA with Starbucks or other little things never hurts either.

Glad to hear you're okay. I would have been really pissed if that was my wife under the same situation.

That's why I continue to carry my AAA membership. Besides getting hotel discounts, they have excellent customer service and I never had any problems when I needed them for emergency road services.

can't remember, is bmw assist free for 1 year or 4 years? I may have it mixed up with free traffic info.

Sorry to go OT, but we only get free traffic info for one year? Then how does one renew the traffic connected to the nav?

Bmw assist was not helpful and finally the police towed the car and we had to ride (pregnant and hot with my chronically ill daughter) in the front with the tow guy! He was very nice to drive us though (although I'm sure it was very unsafe), as bmw assist sent no one and said they were sorry the dealership was closed. I'm pretty sure we would have been there all night!

I'm joining AAA for sure! But I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem. So glad we are all ok. Could have been much worse. But still, I never expected to have the brakes go out on a brand new car.

Sad to hear about your experience- it is a shame. I hope you take the case to BMWNA, because the risk posed by such incidence is really grave.
Reminds me of my 9 months old 2008 X5 as well. She had to go in to get the front wheel bearing assembly replaced- certainly not what you will expect from a 9 months old car.

All of these makes you wonder about the quality of the workmanship.

Amazing story and glad you were all ok...
Very curious to read the diagnosis as in my
46 years of driving/riding cars & m'cycles I
have never experienced acute hydraulic brake failure.

Hope you give someone an earful, after the fix.
