thanks for the info. will start trying to file a complaint. the dealership refused to give me any paperwork for the brake repair and said it will be "mailed" to me. all very suspicious and scary. I really had no choice as they were taking away the rental car they loaned me and I have no other vehicle.

Suspicious is a good word.

Still no response from the dealership. The car seems fine, but I'm still a bit nervous driving it. It did have a horrible metallic odor for the first week. I took it to the carwash and paid extra for the "undercarriage" spray. That seemed to help tons! I made my husband drive it for the first few days! Still no paperwork about the brake repair or what the "manufacturing error" was. I'm guessing that "Mario" at the dealership is in big trouble for telling me too much info over the phone. Counting days til lease expires....... thanks for the info on bmwna!!

ps. viperfreak2... how long should I have paid for a rental car myself while paying my lease at the same time?? I still have no paperwork, so I assume I'd still be paying double. Believe it or not, some people who like to drive nice (supposedly safe) automobiles are not rolling in dough! And yes, having all of my family far away in NC is not ideal during emergencies. We are new to new jersey and really could not think of 1 person who would drive over an hour to pick us up at a rest stop! I would never wish for anyone's family to experience the struggles of a child with cystic fibrosis. But one thing she has taught me is empathy for others in their times of need. We are thankful it all ended safely, but disappointed in our dealership's response and bmw assist (or lack there of).

JG,
Amazing semi-denouement...I'd be pizzed and disappointed, too.
The lack of receipt for 'warr work' and the clam-up from the
servicing stlr is remarkable, imo. Even more disturbing is BMWNA's
lack of communication with you, even with some simple BS/PR
handholding.

I would crank it up a few degrees and notches, just for drill,
but that's me.
Good Luck,
mD

thanks md. once things settle down around my crazy house, I'm going to crank it up a notch! at bare minimum I expect an apology, proof in writing of the repair (and what went wrong), and reimbursement for my cab home from the dealership. I promise I'll copy word for word what the repair report says! and I joined AAA for sure

You may not be able to. If they ever do agree to a settlement/explaination, it may be under "certain terms".
