2009 X5 Wind Noise Issue?

I am in the process of selling my 2007 Cadillac Escalade to a community member and I am looking to order either the Mercedes GL450 or the BMW X5. I am concerned about the X5 being an American built vehicle and it's quailty vs. the Mercedes GL450 being European built. I am concerned about wind noise issues and I wonder if BMW has addressed this problem? I am not looking simply for comfort but a vehicle that will last over the years. Any input would be great from all of you with experience in the X5. I owned a 2005 545i which I sold to purchase my present vehicle and what a mistake I later realized so I am asking for your help before I bend over again.
Thanks

The Mercedes GL is built in Vance, Alabama. That is also in the U.S.A.

Thanks Craig.. Like I said in my post I don't want ot make the same mistake I made with my last purchase. I am however surprized the Mercedes GL450 in made in the USA and hope the BMW and Mercedes quailty control is better than GM and Ford. So, Craig can you also answer some of the questions I had about the X5 and it it's related noise issues/quailty control?
Thanks

I have mine for 3 months now and it is completely free of issues and wind noise or any other noise you can think of. This is my second BMW (my first car was a 3 series built in South Africa) and I can tell you that the X5 rides better. This car is built to last and you will feel when you drive it. Go to a dealer and ask for a test drive. They will not kill you.

You mean the X5 rides better than the 3 series? That's an understatement! I had the 3 series as a loaner and while the handling was superb, the ride was so harsh that I thought I was in a domestic economic vehicle. But from what I could tell the 3 series seemed to have more steering feel/feedback than the X5.

Never had any problem with mine as far as wind noise is concerned.

Just like what the others recommended, go for a test drive.

Better yet, go a a dealer who's willing to let you drive one for a day instead of driving it for a few miles.

Makes a whole lot of difference.

No wind noise issues here (E70 2008). What's to address?

Isn't there some wind noise coming from side mirrors at a high speed?
At least I thought that's where it's coming from. There's some noise coming from the standard run-flats as well, especially on unsmooth road or at high speeds.

Test drive it to death till your satisfied.
I test drove the 05 about 10 times.
That's the only way you will be happy.

In the end it's your decision
