Transmission Slip

Hi everyone. I am new member. This is a great site. My question is that on occasion from a dead stop it feels like the transmission slips or hesitates and then pops in gear when taking off. Almost like a clunk/jerk into gear. I have been to the dealer and they have reprogrammed the transmission but still have the problem. They are now thinking about replacing the tranny. Anybody have this problem? Any advice. Thanks for any help.

the only other possibility that I can think of is the auto hold feature messing up with the start, but sounds like its the transmission... sorry to hear that.

is it a 4.8 or a 3.0?

I had the same problem on my 05 e53 4.4i and the dealer tried the software upgrade but nothing made a difference until they replaced the tranny. After that the problem was not there anymore.

Mine would happen randomly not all of the time. I was under warranty so I just let them replace the tranny and all was good.

I used to have this problem in my X5 and the dealer upgraded the software several times, and I start e-mailing BMW Germany. Finally they send a recommendation to change the gearbox sensor, and its work.
