I thought mid cycle facelifts were mostly done by start of model years, not in the middle of a model year. But I hear the change is coming before summer. How is that? Why won't they just make the facelifted model for model year 2011 starting in September?

Before we get too excited in USA...
Has anyone seen any indication at all that this may be available in the US? I'm affraid that, to the contrary, all i've seen is that this is unlikely to be an option stateside (see links above in this thread).
I'm certainly holding out hope that this engine will be an option. I also hope that the trend that I see on these boards and on the roads is indicative of a larger change in interest and that we are seen as a market for future "performance diesels" with all of the options and accessories that would go along with this type of vehicle. I have found it very frustrating, for example, that the diesel is sold in the US with only certain option packages. I happen to prefer the appearance of the X5 with M sport package, or at least with the staggered wheel look and fender flares, but neither is available on the diesel. I know you can do some aftermarket things to get these looks but it seems to me to be a lot of hassle and expense. Please BMW...recognize that a performance diesel X5 with a matching aggressive appearance is something we want in the USA. (by the way i know this is unlikely to reach BMW on this forum..has anyone identified a place we can give feedback directly to BMW about these issues? I know I'm only one voice in a crowd and that the decisions about the current model years are proabaly already made, but if they dont hear there is interest for this engine or other option packages then it only hurts our chances in the future...) |

Need to know!!!
BMWNA is replacing my X5 35d and are pushing me to get it ordered ASAP. I told them I was aware of a LCI/ MCF and both corporate and dealer denied any facelift whatsoever. If we are certain of this possible facelift and X5 40d then is there any documentation or press release suggesting this so I can submit and rest my case for wanting to wait for Q2 to have my new car manufactured. Anything you know LeMans?

BMW does LCI going into 5th year and its well known fact. So, it will be with 2011 model. It has to happen between now and September.
Nothing is set in stone with BMW, its all rumors and guesses till officially confirmed. Search Google for "xDrive40d" and check the results Rumor: BMW X5 Facelift to include an xDrive40d model |

German dealers received first information with details two days ago, so LCI is right ahead of us, March or April. My dealer didn't want to provide detailled information since it is for internal use only right now (apparently they have an information embargo and I didn't want to pressure my dealer to provide it, especially since the main changes are already well known).

N54 engine is being replaced by Twin Power N55(for most BMWs) which will be in the entry level X5. Right now BMW is concentrated on E92/93 coupe/cabrio press release coming soon. |
