I'm currently sitting on 9.2l / 100km with a 3.0d (19" wheels)... I have been driving fairly conservatively lately.. if I go lead foot it will go to 12l/ 100km ... this is alll city driving with some small expressways that are largely choked with traffic when I drive to/from work...

watrob yes diesel cheaper than Unleaded ... !!! I paid 1.19 on the weekend unleaded was 1.23.. wonder how long that will last ... ??

Also 21" wheels are a large amount of mass and it will cost you a litre per 100 with them.
Are K&N filters any good ? .. does the diesel air filter look like this ?

I've now got 2500 miles on my 2009 35d and am getting 27.3 mpg. I've been trying to keep the speed under 2000rpm. That is about 65 miles per hour. When acccelerating from a stop, I've been taking it easy and keeping the shifts at about 2000 rpm max. I've been putting highway miles on it mostly.
I tried driving about 75 or 80 miles/hr and the mpg went down a little to between 26 and 27 mpg. I'm wondering when it gets to 5k miles if the engine will loosen up a little more and get better mpg. I'll keep you posted.

9.5 litre/km can't be right!

Do you mean 9.5 litres/100km or 9.5km/litre?

I'm getting about 24 MPG@ 80 MPH. When it's cold here, I only get about 16 MPG in the city. When it's warmer, I get 18-20 MPG in the city. 1600 miles on mine.

Craig
