not sure if 3.0 needs an update at all... since it's a smaller engine, not sure you will feel the throttle "jump"

No jump from pushing the throttle but from simply releasing the brakes like after a red light turns green... I got an SIB update for that and it seems to have fixed it. I don't think 3.0s have any problems other than the same acceleration lag as the 4.8 once you depress the pedal. Just not very responsive, but is with DS mode.

I'm another happy 4.8i customer!!!

I haven't been on Xoutpost much lately and did not know about this thread. Took my 2008 E70 4.8i in for an oil change yesterday and complained about the "transmission hesitation and lurching -- especially when starting on a uphill". I was REALLY surprised when the SA got back to me and said there's a SIB (24 06 08) for that and they were going to do the software upgrade.

Left the car overnight. They seemed to have some problems with the update but eventually completed it.

I CANNOT believe how much better the 4.8i feels now! Uphill acceleration is so smooth. I think I'm going to be burning gas at even faster rate. My current average MPG is 6.2

haha glad to hear it feels better but that MPG sucks! haha I've been getting around 14.5mpg, but i have to bring my 4.8 in to fix that software upgrade.

Would you guys say that this problem is on the 07' models more than 08?
