Had my 08 4.8 transmission software updated last week and it does feel much smoother. It seems to kick down to 1st gear sooner as I am coming to stop, no more last minute kick down that caused jerking.

You're no longer under warranty?

In my case, i was told there's no particular SIB for E53 4.6iS trany issue...all they'll do is top off trany oil, reset trany and go for a joy ride. Dinan software helped a bit but not much. Something you'll have to live with for having a sports tuned SUV/SAV...

Yeah that's likely because you've got a A5S 440Z - UK gearbox whereas the 4.4i/4.8is has a ZF GA6HP26Z.

Sorry to ressurect a dead post... Are the effects of the udpate lasting? I have read that some members are having the jerkiness come back. Is it as bad as before?

I have mentioned this problem to my service adviser two times over the last 5 year [yeah....] and he has only told me that the car's transmission will learn my driving habits.... My car is 5k miles out of warranty now and has never had any of the aforementioned updates done. Build date is 02/08
