Therefore I will respond as follows:

"I simply do not see the utility of turning the thread into a discussion of legal theory and quoting of legal precedents, etc."
-Really? That is the ultimate in hypocrisy. It was YOU that first saw fit to advise the reader that in Illinois, video in motion is illegal and in so doing incorrectly quoted the proposed legislation rather than the actual enacted statute. It was YOU that first saw fit to correct Berniac and suggest that whether video was playing in a car would be decided by a preponderence of evidence in a civil suit, completly misunderstanding the issues at bay in such a matter. I politley attempted to clarify your misunderstanding. It was YOU that was the smart a** in first quoting me and then pointing out the original posters comments as if I didnt understand it. It was YOU that did not in any way respond to the original poster's technical query but rather chimed in with your unsolicited personal opinion on the efficacy of such systems.

"I have no interest in further argument back and forth as I don't see any value added to either myself or other readers."
- While you arrogantly presume to speak for the readers, I will let them decide for themselves as to who's posts are value added, mine which actually responded specifically to the posters technical q's or yours which offer unsolicited opinion, attempt to incorrectly correct others and chime in with smart a** comments which add nothing to this Board.

"You seem to have a problem."
- Yes, its posts like yours. I suggest you also take a look at yourself and ask why you feel the need to offer your unwanted opinions and try to correct others.

"Whatever."
-A petty chick term.

Whatever.

Maybe you should read a little closer... my comment was quite obviously NOT about the relative value of your posts vs. mine, but clearly about the usefulness, or lack of same, to continue the discussion further on the message board.

How many people find this further interchange between AVATT and me useful?

Whatever.

Yes, I found the post where you claim I gave you a hard time.

Apparently you took offense when I said it was unacceptable to tell people to "Shut the F**k up."

My apologies for telling you it is unacceptable to tell people the "Shut the F**k up" on a message board.

That was rude of me.

There was a reason behind that, i see you are pretty quick in pointing out results instead of prior events.

If you hit someone with a hummer in the head, and they get you back, you will probably only point out the fact, that someone hit you with a hummer, that's what your logic sounds like.

pretty one sided don't you think guy?

LMAO at all these guys getting on their soapbox about driving and watching TV. Ever speed or talked on your phone driving? Studies have shown that talking and/or texting while driving is as bad, if not worse than driving drunk.

I've watched TV plenty of times over the years in M5 and F350. Mind you, it was on long boring roadtrips in the middle of nowhere, not in traffic situations. The screen height is high enough that I can still EASILY see the road. I've done the same the OP did though where friends watched it, played PlayStation games, etc...no worse of a distraction than them talking to me. It's called self control.

Worry more about the idiots typing text messages while looking at their phone, which is 99% of the time parallel to their lap, as opposed to the screen watchers who are at least still looking up on the highest point of the dash. Other than time duration, how is this any worse than those w/ iDrive fumbling through the screens in order to turn the heater down.

How is this any worse than iDrive to adjust the heater, shock setting, M power mode, GPS or the radio?

BMW doesn't want to give me the option in the U.S. to roll my windows up remotely via my key either. Just because BMW doesn't want us to, doesn't mean it shouldn't be a choice.

Trust me, after purchasing my first motorcylce, i'm the first one to experience distracted drivers. Here in Idaho we have the option of wearing or not wearing helmets...I like having the option. I like having the same option in my vehicles if I'd like to use the screen for more than just adjust the heater or playing music, especially since the stereo is capable of more.

Agreed, my exact points throughout this thread.

And maybe the internet and cellphones will go away so we'll all return the libraries and get back to using land lines. I'm just playing now

Honestly, if anything, things are just gonna keep going the way of more technology at the drivers touch. Pretty soon bottom of the barrel cars will have this kind of stuff also, so I don't think technology in cars is going to start going backwards to the days of just a simple stereo and nothing more anytime soon.
