The problem is when you use the rear hitch to put on a bike carrier for example. The moment you put the gear in reverse you get the warning tone. Now you can rig up a special resistance circuit to put on the hitch electrical outlet (which I did), and it will switch the rear PDC off completely.

It would have being far easier however, for all concerned, if there was a setting in idrive (old or new), to simply switch off the rear PDC.

Whats frustrating is that BMW are aware of the problem and promised to release a software fix to remedy this issue ... but judging that the new idrive still doesn't have it, I'm not holding my breath for the older idrive to be fixed.

So I will have to continue using my radio shack resistance circuit I built.
