Just saying this so you know it isn't always the dealer who denies something as warranty, but is usually sent down from the mothership.
Did this bulletin come down yet? I need to get in there quick before it does to avoid hassle/wait times... but my annual maintenance isn't until end of January (when I took delivery 2 years ago)... do you know how long before I'm actually due do they allow the maintenance to be done free? I have the annual NYS inspection sticker coming up at the same time and it definitely needs to be done before that. Of course my service dept. hasn't returned my call about this.

Yeah, it's out... and apparently it isn't as bad as I thought. On things we see as a warranty issue we need to send in the pics with the warranty claim. (there is a site to email the pics to straight from any camera phone) And they use that for all the added info needed vs calling for parts. So I'd expect the dealer to be stricter on what is warrantied, peeling finish on painted plastic trim parts will still be covered, and with the pics we can hope for non-painted parts to be implemented soon. But don't expect them to cover items clearly scratched by rings etc. or anything like that.

As for the service, as long as you are within the month and under so many miles from due (is it 600?) they can do it.

^ thx though I'm only at 9800 miles after 2 years - hopefully they'll just go by "within a month". I forgot to mention the main reason I want it in soon is because my intermittent darkened idrive screen issue is now permanent. It's always dark even after reboots - can't see the screen at all unless I shine a flashlight on it. Seen that in any cars? Is this just a program update or a part defect? This is definitely something I can't wait 1.5 months to fix.

I've personally not seen that problem come through the shop to have any personal experience with it, though I have seen the issue come up on the forum a few times, and have been keeping an eye on those threads as to maybe have a heads up before I do get one to work on.

Over the years I have had some of the minor trim issues like peeling door handles. My dealership has always been great about fixing them at no cost while under warranty. I have found that having a good relationship with the service department is key. They usually want to do the right thing and if you treat them well they will do the same back.

You're so lucky that you just had that peeling doorhandle issue. I wish I could have that problem instead.
As some of you guys have read my thread already, the driver side door handle did not(and still)work at all.(it's a second time fix) I tried to reach and pull the handle outside of the door as well; it didn't work, either.
I'm so glad my car was not on fire...

it's not 'so lucky' - it's just arguably less unfortunate
why would you wish you had _any_ of these types of issues - it makes more sense to wish you didn't at all

I lost two fuel pumps last winter, one while on a freeway. Yep, I wasn't very happy.

But my point is I had a good relationship with my service advisor. He bent over backwards to fix my car. He even called me to see how it was doing.

CMW, I mean BMW is doing the same thing everyone else does w/ the 1st 1-2yrs of a new model coming out...they make things as cheaply as possible, wait for complaints to come in then issue recalls/warranty repairs on a case-by-case basis. Some poeple will learn to live w/ certain issues, so the manufacturers just sit back to wait and see who shows up complaining before the problem is fixed.

Is this the same noise you are experiencing? Did dealer say what they need to replace to fix?

Yess and no.
Only said that some parts will be replaced or added.
Interesting to see if that helps.
